World of Discoveries, an interactive museum and theme park, opens 24 April in Oporto, Portugal. The site that once hosted a five thousand square meters shipyard represents an investment of 8 million Euros and aims to recreate the Portuguese Discoveries. In the park visitors embark on replica caravels complemented by holograms, globes 4D, an internal “ocean”, an underwater tunnel (to represent the passage of the Cape of Storms), fog screens and taste delicacies from Africa, India , China, Japan and Brazil .
World of Discoveries is part of Douro Azul Group, the cruise company in Portugal and expects to receive 300,000 visitors in the first year . The park is open Monday to Friday, from 10 to 18 hours, Saturdays, Sundays and holidays from 10 to 19 hours.
