World Waterpark is the world’s second largest indoor water park (after Tropical Islands Resort, Germany) with a size of roughly six acres. The park is located in Edmonton, Alberta, right inside the biggest mall in Canada and opened to public in 1986.
The star ride in the park for extreme thrill seekers is The Tornado takes the rider on a full 360 degree loop at high speed, and is well worth the huge stair climb that leads up to it. Other rides include Twister and Cyclone slides, which are both 83 feet (25 m) high, the Sky Screamer speed slide, the Raging Rapids action river, and a big wave pool that is among the world’s largest–indoors or outdoors. Another highlight is Tropical Typhoon, a “toilet bowl” ride which sends folks swishing around the perimeter of a bowl and then getting flushed out the center into a splash pool. World Waterpark has a maximum capacity of 40,000 guests, an average temperature for the water of 30-33 °C (86-89 °F).
Unfortunately it can be a small fortune to spend a day at World Water park. First it’s quite expensive to get in ($36.95). No outside food or drinks are allowed and you pay $7 inside for hot dog and a cola. Small Lockers are $7 rental for the day with no refund.
In sum, World Waterpark is an incredible but pricey water park that is wonderful in the winter, when it is cold outside and you’re inside enjoying the warmth!
