Sunway Lagoon is an amusement park and water park located in Petaling Jaya, Malaysia. The park opened on April 29, 1993 and tries to be a Water park, Theme Park, an Adventure Park, an Horror park and Zoo all in one. However, this resort only excels on his water park side (and not quite at a word class level). In fact the water park has a gigantic pool and a gigantic suspension bridge. The park’s pool is the world’s largest wave pool, measuring impressive 139,800 square feet (13,000 square meters). Apart from that in the other sections Sunway Lagoon has a mini zoo( with some magnificent Bengal tigers) and a long rope bridge going across the water-park ( about 100 metres or more…not for the faint-hearted as its about 80-100 ft drop!). In 2013 the park oped Vuvuzela, the world’s largest water ride and a new 5D cinema.
The park may be aesthetically pleasing, but lacks substance in every way, especially for the price. In fact, the park has a no outside food & drinks policy and ridiculous one-time use locker system requiring payment each time you access locker. In addition for water based games, you have rent the items separate. Taking all these extras into account, the fairly affordable ticket prices RM 48 (15 USD) for the water park (RM107 for “all 5 parks”) can skyrocket if you stay a full day. Also, this place security checks are worse than the airport. There is a counter at the entrance for bag inspection and will be confiscated any food or water you brought in.
Overall, Sunway Lagoon it’s somewhat enjoyable, but expensive tickets, rules that doesn’t make sense and bad costumer service makes this park rank poorly in our preferences.
