Motiongate Dubai is a Hollywood-inspired theme park located inside Dubai Parks and Resorts, Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The opened on December 16, 2016 and showcases some of the most important north american film studios.
There are 5 themed areas: Studio Central – a park’s main entrance area with shopping and dinning facilities, themed around a town of Hollywood. Columbia Pictures – based on Sony Pictures’ films such as Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, Hotel Transylvania, Ghostbusters, Zombieland, Underworld, and The Green Hornet. DreamWorks – based on DreamWorks Animation franchises such as Shrek, Madagascar, Kung Fu Panda, and How to Train Your Dragon. Smurfs’ Village – themed to Peyo’s The Smurfs and finally Lionsgate – based on Lionsgate films and home of word class The Hunger Games roller coaster.
The park will offer over 27 of the Middle East’s most amazing rides and attractions, from state-of-the-art 4-D attractions to exciting water rides and roller coasters. But for now more than 50% of the rides listed in the map are in test or simply closed. For a project as big as this we weren’t expecting all the rides to be available just yet so we need to have patience. For the rides that are available the ghost busters ride, Hotel Transylvania and the Smurf Studio started from day one and are worth mention. But in our view the best rides right now are Zombieland Blast Off. and Green Hornet Coaster. The Step Up Dubai show was also really entertaining.
In late April 2017 the park opened How to Train Your Dragon land, that includes a Viking adventure, a ship-based attraction where guests can train to be the ultimate viking; and Dragon Gliders, where they can learn to fly dragons. How to Train Your Dragon is one of four lands included in the DreamWorks Zone based on the studio’s popular blockbuster animation hits including: Shrek, Kung Fu Panda and Madagascar attractions that we expect to open soon.
The project it self is bigger than life. Amazing architecture. Rides beautifully designed and shows. Friendy staff.
The soft opening is a bit disappointing and does not gives a clear picture on what’s ahead to make a final independent critic. So let’s come back in a few months to make an honest review.
