Mirabilandia is an Italian amusement park, located at Ravenna, in costa Adriatica. The park opened in 1992 and is the most visited in Italy with an area of 30 hectares (with an additional waterworld area of 10 hectares, called Mirabilandia Beach).
There 4 world class rides in the park. Divertical, Ispeed, Katun and Eurowhel, Europe’s second tallest Ferris wheel with 90 meters tall (unfortunately it was closed due to bad weather conditions during our visit). ISpeed launched coaster was our group’s favorite. The coaster has a 74.6 MPH launch into a top hat where it climbs to 180 feet and then plummets to the ground with a barrage of airtime hills, tight turns, and inversions. Divertical is also the only roller coaster of this type in the world. The drop with 60 m height at top speed is 106 km/h is a world record (world’s tallest water coaster). The rider has to climb a vertical lift followed by a descent of 55 m at an angle of 45 °, which ends in a straight line segment on which the boats skim the pool water. Finally, Katun hold the title of Europe’s longest inverted roller coaster.
The park also has good shows like Police Academy and a horror house and a dolphin show that you have to pay extra). There are many smaller rides that maybe suit smaller kids, including Dinoland opened in 2014.
4 top thrill rides plus shows and kids rides for EUR34 (with second day free) is a little expensive if you plan to visit it in just one day, but if you will stay for two days really worth your money (Parking is EUR5 a day).
This theme park is hugely popular among Italians. It’s daily full of people. The lines are along mainly in the summer. So if you want a piece of advice come early in the morning and bring light clothes. Food isn’t great or cheap but there’s a pic-nic area if you want to bring our own food. The park main street is covered by free wifi.
In sum, Mirabilandia rivals with Gardaland as the best Italian theme park. Free second day entry and Italian hospitality made it good value and a great break from sightseeing we did in Italy.
