Ferrari Land is a theme park located within the PortAventura Resort in Salou, Tarragona, Spain. The park opened on April 7, 2017 and is the first Ferrari branded theme park in Europe (there is another Ferrari theme park in Dubai). It is themed on the italian sports car manufacturer based in Maranello and ounded by Enzo Ferrari.
The park spans for 70.000 m2 and is opening in several stages. For now the main attraction is Red Force, a steel launched roller coaster. Built by Intamin it is the tallest and fastest roller coaster in Europe as well as the tallest giga coaster. Riders are accelerated to 112 mph in five seconds and projected into the the air until they reach 112 m.
Ferrari Land Europe also features 55m tall bounce-back towers, F1 simulators and displays of lightening fast pit-stop F1 tyre-changes among the many spectacular features of the iconic Italian Ferrari brand.
The park is also inspired by Italy, including recreations of Venice’s Piazza San Marco and Rome’s Colosseum.
We visited after opening day and have to say that the experience was a bit disappointing. Apart the word class unique Red Power experience the park doesn’t have many to offer to trill seekers. More with a price tag of almost 40€ independent from PortAventura main theme park is bit costly for so little. Stating that if you love Enzo Ferrari car company or if you dream to drive a Ferrari since you were a little child then you may find the park worthwhile. For the rest of the bunch is better to wait. When we visit the park was empty but with no surprise long queues to Red Power. Also closed early at 17 hours, a surprise in sunny Barcelona coast.
All in all Ferrari Land does not quite fulfills the expectations, unless you are a die-hard Ferrari fan or like us you want to be the first the experience the raw power of the finest roller coaster in Europe.
