Puy du Fou will open its Spanish in Toledo theme park in 2021, with 4 shows and 3 themed areas. The park reproduces the history of Spain and will have around 30 hectares of area and vegetation. There is some controversy with local environmental organization that filed an injunction in the courts against the construction claiming expressing concerns about water consumption and fauna and flora endangerment. However, the project has the support of local authorities including Real Sociedade Geográfica. Due to this situation and financial problems the project was postponed from the initial 2019 opening expectations.
The project will open in 5 stages until 2030 reaching an area of 87,000 square meters with an investment close to 200 million euros.
The park’s name is already decided: Puy du Fou Spain and on opening day the themed areas (called villages) will include a Castilian settlement, a medieval forge and a Muslim camp. There will be also indoor villages, one of which is a360 degree auditorium, arranged by six different scenarios, one of them of almost 1,500 square meters, and with a capacity for 2,053 people. This scenario can be turned based on the representation, which is estimated to be from two to five daily performances, with a duration of 35 minutes each pass. Second indoor show of 2,000 square meters and in this show, water, flowers and plants will play a major role. This space will have two to five daily performances, with a duration of 30 minutes.
The outdoor show will have a semicircle arrangement and will have the eagle as the protagonist. The capacity of this function will be 3,000 people and there will be two to five performances, with an average duration of about 25 minutes.
The park will have seven restoration zones with capacity for more than 5.000 people and craft workshops.
