Leolandia is a children’s family park located in Capriate San Gervasio, in the province of Bergamo, Lombardy (there’s an exit on the A4 Milan Venice autoroute). The park is generally open from mid-March to early November and with its 200,000 m² it can be considered one of the most important parks in Northern Italy.
Leolandia target group is small children (3-6 years) and themed areas like Peppa Pig World makes it the most loved theme park in Italy based on the Travelers’ Choice by TripAdvisor (and 7th place in the Europe in 2017. Huge if you take into account that Gardaland is only the 9th on the list).
Inside the two main attractions are the house of Peppa the Pig and MiniItalia.
Minitalia, the original themed land from the park’s inception in 1971, has 160 reproductions of the most beautiful monuments of our country in scale (San Marco’s Square, the Milan Cathedral or the Vesuvius volcano are perfectly replicated).
Peppa’s house is built and designed precisely as it is in the cartoon: the small bedroom with Peppa’s and George’s toys, Mummy Pig’s kitchen and outside children can get in Daddy Pig’s car in Peppa Pig’s playground, slipping downhill in Windy Castle or take a picture with George and Peppa. There are some other rides and attractions, like Leonardo Da Vinci museum, an aquarium, an open area with farm animals and a collection of parrots and even a small spinning roller coaster, but the children’s favourite is the pig’s house with queues of around 1 hour to get in. Alongside with rides, the park has also a wide range of small shows, featuring fairies, pirates and parrots.
Leolandia’s ticket’s are hugely overpriced € 37.50 (adults and children 120 cm high) € 32.50 (for children from 90 to 119 cm) but there are some online deals to “ease the pain”. The food and drinks are expensive so take a picnic to save money. It’s hot in Lombardy in peak season but there’s a great sprinkler system all around the park, excellent on a Summer day. Plenty of shaded areas too.The experience is totally worth it. The park is safe and all the attractions are tailored for kids.
In sum, the experience is totally worth it. It’s safe for families and all the attractions are tailored for kids.
