Euro-Mir is a spinning roller coaster located at Europa-Park in Rust, Germany. The roller coaster opened in 1997 and is inspired by the troubled Soviet space station Mir (in fact there’s an interactive permanent exhibit right the the coaster where you can learn the history behind those fearless astronauts). For starters you climb in a helical lift hill with industrial music playing in the background. At the top of the hill you are dropped several times in circles from 86 feet. Riding Euro MIR is a lottery. You never know which way you’re going to be going, to do the second half backwards, though, is to experience Euro MIR at its best. One last curiosity MIR is r Russian for ‘Peace’, an irony since the station was built during the cold war.
