Swiss Vapeur Parc is a miniature train park in Le Bouveret, a village on Lac Léman near Montreux. The park opened on June 6, 1989 and covers a surface area of 17’000 m².
In the grounds Swiss Vapeur Parc has Europe’s most magnificent miniature railway layouts. You can find and ride 18 operating locomotives and railcars, including 9 machines operated by steam, 1 machine that works with a gasoline engine and hydraulic transmission and 8 machines operate with a gas generator and electric motors. You can also visit miniature stations and Swiss cities. The buildings were constructed and maintained with the help of area businesses as technical faithful to reality (slate roof, stone, carpentry …). The attention to detail and decor is typical swiss with all the precision and final touches that makes it a wonderful experience.
Food is available on site and you can also combine this experience with the nearby water park. There are some nice picnic benches by the pond where you can sit and watch the trains tootling round and there are various shops and places to buy snacks and drinks. If you fancy stretching your legs by Lake Geneva and round the marina, you can pop out of the Vapeur Parc as they stamp your hand so you can go out and come back in that day. Access depends where you are coming from of course but you can get there in a little more than an hour from Geneva either via Evian (France) or Martigny (Switzerland). The entry coasts 14,30€ or 15€ and with the ticket you can ride unlimited trains until the park closes at 18:00.
Good fun for families and train lovers. An unexpected delight.
