Cinecittà World is an Italian-themed park, located in Castel Romano, near Rome. The park was created by the initiative of entrepreneurs Luigi Abete, Aurelio De Laurentis and Diego Della Valle and is dedidcated to cinema and television.
The park offers 30 attractions, 7 shows and iconic scenery designed by Dante Ferretti.
Cinecittà World was opened on July 24, 2014 and is located on the grounds of the old Dinocittà film studios, created in the sixties by Dino De Laurentis, which are present the theaters and some buildings converted to accommodate indoor shows and attraction
At the gate, adults pay 24€, children 19€.
After a few hours rooming around, we have mixed feelings about the park. It felt something’s still missing. The themed areas, for instance, fail coherence, despite all the memorabilia from the Dino Di Laurentis studio sets. No parades, poor shows, as well.
Altair is a fantastic ride though. 10-Inversions. Only for the brave!!!.
Dante’s Inferno indoor rollercoaster is also a must. Atkium, water splash too.
But the best realistic event was the ride on the chariots in the Ben Hur film set. You book ahead, then take a short Bus ride to the film set and get a ride on a real chariot on the real arena where the film remake was taken in 2016. There are cameras on the chariots so you can collect your personal video (on a personalised Usb stick) at the shop.
We didn’t stay until the end of the day spending the rest of the afternoon in a huge outdoor outlet nearby shopping.
All and all we feel that the park didn’t fullfill yet its potential. The visitor numbers have been growing since our visit in Spring 2018 but continue to be a bit poor for a major theme park. The park received approximately 50% visits this year in 2017 and 215% more than two years ago (2016: 110,000 visitors, 2017: 250,000 visitors, 2018: 350,000 visitors). These good results are mainly due to the arrival of several novelties (for instance the I-Fly ride) and the organization of many events, like recently for Christmas.
