Blackpool Pleasure Beach has announced that it will host a special event on August 23, 2013 to celebrate the 90th anniversary of the Big Dipper roller coaster.
The after-hours event will see The Big Dipper and a selection of other rides remain open after the remainder of the park has closed. Guests who pay £18 will receive unlimited rides on the Big Dipper, Infusion, the Grand Prix and Wallace & Gromit’s Thrill-O-Matic, as well as food. A cheaper package, priced at £10, includes just the food and the “party atmosphere”. The rides will close at 11pm.
One of Blackpool Pleasure Beach’s most iconic rides, The Big Dipper was first constructed in 1923, and subsequently extended in 1936. It received another major upgrade ahead of the 2010 season, with a refurbished station and repainted trains.
