Zoomarine Algarve is a marine and water park located in Albufeira, Portugal. The park opened in 1991 and now extends to an area exceeding 10 hectares where you can watch presentations with dolphins, seals and sea lions, tropical birds and birds of prey.
Despite its educational philosophy, this Algarve water park retains a heavy emphasis on fun. In fact, in the park you’ll also find an amazing aquarium with sharks, various habitats, Cinema4D, a mini roller coaster, a large wheel, a carousel, mini train for toddlers and pirate ship for older kids.
Top of the pile is the awesome dolphin show which is about the best we ever seen, and that all my friends compare with the one at Seaworld Florida. There is also a couple of great waterslides (including Harakiri), some rapids and swimming pools making your visit to Zoomarine even more unforgettable.
In 2013 Zoomarine Algarve received an international award for his work with birds as a team of handlers decided to stimulate with success the intelligence of some species. In 2014 the park opened a new 2500 square meters water area with a natural waterfall that drops over 10 meters over a beach wave. In 2017 a new kids area was created called Bay of Pirates.
We visit the park almost every year and recommend you to try the dolphins interaction (please note that you have to schedule in advance). The park is crowded during the summer so we also recommend a visit on a weak day. Food in the park is good with the typical fast food stands and even a restaurant. The entrance tickets are not pricey 25€ for adults and 16 for children) because you have activities and shows all day long that keep children busy all day (check online for discounts and in the local shops for vouchers for free children entrances). I even recommend getting to the park as they open to enable you to do everything, as there is a lot to fit in just one the day. The park offers many amenities including free car parking, transport service, well-equipped changing rooms and showers, wheelchair rental, kiddy car rental, refreshment kiosks and a gift shop. The place is always clean and very tidy and well kept. The staff are extremely friendly and the attractions are fabulous.
New for 2015 is an acrobatic pirates show called Pirate Bay.
Overall, good day out – especially for the kids!
