Zoo de Pescheray (Le Domaine zoologique de Pescheray) is a small zoological park located in Breil-sur-Mérize in the department of Sarthe (near Le Mans), France. Founded in 1974, the Zoo de Pescheray is the second largest Sarthe zoo with more than 60.000 visitors per year.
The park consists of a 90 hectares reserve and is specialized in the presentation of animals of the French and European fauna. For example, you will be able to approach the last major terrestrial predators of our continent: wolves, bears and lynx.
Unlike the neighbour large parks like Beauval or La Flèche, here you do not have a single show, but allows a walk in nature with pets. When we visit in 2014 we enjoyed the restaurant next to the castle of Pescheray.
Plan to walk at least 3 hours, because you have to complete the whole circuit. I would have liked to find shortcuts to reduce this distance, for example to access the toilets.
The 13,50€ seems a bit pricey and the park closes early (last visitor needs to entry by 17:00).
All in all a good and peaceful second generation zoo for a half day visit with the family.
