Lisbon Zoo (Jardim Zoologico de Lisboa) is a zoological garden located in Lisbon, Portugal. I’m from Lisbon so I came here since my childhood but many of my friends from abroad are surprised to find such a big zoo in the middle of the city. And it’s here in Sete Rios since 1905 (opened in 1884). For now, just About 800,000 people visit the zoo annually, but the numbers have increased in the last few years with Portugal capital growing appeal for tourists.
Plenty to see here: 114 mammals, 157 birds, 56 reptiles and 5 amphibians. Elephant, tigers, zebras, camels, monkeys.. There’s also a cable car with great views from the top and a themed Dolphin Bay area with shows.
