Gisela Williams, a journalist in the Wall Street Journal, claims to have received a death threat from an Efteling theme park fan, after her article on the park’s racist rides.
I received my first death threat today. Believe it or not it was regarding my recent WSJ article on a fairytale amusement park.

In a piece for the WSJ about the park this north american newswoman wrote:
There was an unpleasant side to Efteling: The way dark-skinned people were depicted. At a carousel-like ride called Monsieur Cannibale, for instance, an enormous figure wore a chef’s hat on his head and a spoon through his nostrils—a racist throwback to the days of the Dutch East India Company that made for more explaining.
In the park’s reaction an Efteling spokesman stated to The Telegraaf Dutch newspaper “Our park is based on characters from stories, myths and sagas. We don’t think all stepmothers are evil people like in Snow White”
